International award winning Danish pianist DAVID LAU MAGNUSSEN has given concerts over four continents, including at Carnegie Hall, Guangzhou Opera House and the Salle Gaveau. Highly active as both a soloist and chamber musician, he also occupies the role of music director in the old Danish capital and UNESCO heritage site of Roskilde at Skt. Jørgensbjerg Church in Denmark.
Together with organist Anne Mathiesen he recently founded Duo MM, specialised in multi-keyboard combinations. With a vast repertoire for both piano / harpsichord and organ, the duo gained national attention in 2018 with critically acclaimed performances with their own transcriptions of all the double concerti and the Art of Fugue by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Last year his world premiere recording of the Martin Lohse Piano Concerto was released and has since been played over 130, 000 times on Spotify as well as broadcast on major radio stations internationally. A sought after piano teacher David has given masterclasses worldwide and also sits in juries for international competitions.
For the past 8 years he has performed with cellist Jacob Shaw as Duo Shaw-Magnussen. Together they have performed all over Europe, the USA and Asia including concerts for world leaders and royals, including the Royal Banquet in London to honour Anglo-Danish relations.
During his studies in London (Peter Feuchtwanger), Vienna (Stefan Vladar / Avedis Kouyoumdjian) and Copenhagen (Niklas Sivelöv) he was named laureate of numerous competitions, in addition to being presented the prestigious “Oddfellow Artist Award”.
