Born in Zagreb, Croatia, OLIVER DJORDJEVIC (violoncelle) started playing the cello and the piano as a young child. He also showed a keen interest in composition and by his mid-teens was becoming well-established as a composer in his native Croatia, conducting one of his compositions at the concert of the Virtuoso cycle at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Zagreb.
Oliver went on to study philosophy and natural sciences alongside his musical activities, graduating in 2003 from the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of Željko Švaglić. Laureat of numerous Croatian competitions, he has worked alongside Valter Dešpalj, Martin Hornstein, Rudolf Leopold, Francesco Pepicelli, Orfeo Mandozzi, Christoph Stradner.
Oliver is a member of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra & Zagreb Soloists and plays in many chamber ensembles, ranging from early music and viola da gamba to contemporary music, including his own compositions.
He has a particular interest in the music of South America and is a founder member of the Trio del Sur ensemble.
