The French double bassist RÉMI VERMEULEN started double bass in Calais in the class of Christian Pottiez, obtaining his DEM in Bourg-la-Reine in the class of Mathieu Petit. He continued his studies at the Ecole Supérieure de Musique et Danse de Lille where he obtained his DNSPM in June 2015.

Holder of the State Diploma of double bass teacher, he has taught at the CRC of Croix as well as at the CRD of Calais and Blanc Mesnil.

Rémi participated was a founder member of the group “Dimanche Soir” (specializing in French song) in 2015 and the tour that started in March 2016. He perfected his jazz skills during ten years with the Blue Note Big Band in Coquelles. He plays frequently in professional orchestras such as the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre Strasbourg Philharmonic, the Paris Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France and the Orchestre de Paris. He is also principal double bassist with the Sinfonia Pop Orchestra, an orchestra dedicated to the music of film and animation.

In June 2018, Rémi obtained a master’s degree in historical double bass with honours, unanimously awarded at the CNSMD Paris in Richard Myron’s class and is part of the Collectif Baroque de la région des Hauts de France. In the field of early music, he is a member of the Fratres ensemble in Switzerland, of the Cercle de l’Harmonie under the direction of Jérémie Rhorer and of the Concert Spirituel conducted by Hervé Niquet and is part of the ensemble “Il parnasso in Festa” created in 2016.
