Maren Ohm Ballestad

Originally from Bergen, Norwegian violinist MAREN OHM BALLESTAD (b. 1998) studied the violin with Professor Elise Båtnes at the Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo. She continued her studies with Peter Rainer at the Universität der Künste in Berlin where she plays with the Kammerakademie Potsdam. Maren is parIcularly fond of chamber music, and with the Momentum String Quartet she has, among other things, parIcipated in the Young Quartet Series in Oslo, Horten Chamber Music FesIval, Oslo Chamber Music FesIval and at the Trondheim Chamber Music FesIval. She had her own concert series at Ole Bull’s Museum in Lysøen and Edvard Grieg´s Museum in Troldhaugen, Bergen. Maren has played as soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Navy Music Corps and the Trondheim Soloists. She plays with many orchestras in her native Norway and participates regularly in the Bergen InternaIonal FesIval and Oslo Chamber Music FesIval. Maren plays on a violin by German luthier, Ragnar Hayn.
