Maressa Portilho

Born in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian violinist MARESSA PORTILHO pursued her Bachelor studies at the University of Rio de Janeiro and Orchestra Academy in São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, moving on to Master studies under the guidance of Marco Rizzi at the HMDK Mannheim.

She has performed as a soloist with major national orchestras such as Rio de Janeiro Symphony Orchestra, Barra Mansa, Cesgranrio and USP Symphony Orchestra. Maressa has collaborated and performed with many world-renowned soloists and chamber musicians, including Boris Brovtsyn, Jennifer Stumm, Julian Steckel, Lars Anders Tomter, Liza Ferschtman, Roman Simovic, Anthony Marwood, Christian Poltéra and Asbjorn Norgaard. She has worked under the baton of conductors such as Marin Alsop, Gincarlo Guerrero, Sir George Benjamin, Michael Sanderling and Antonello Manacorda.

Maressa is a regular guest violinist at the Kammerakademie Potsdam where she had the opportunity to work in projects with soloists such as Sabine Meier, Julia Fischer, Emmanuel Pahud, Bruno Delapelaire, Martin Helmchen. In Germany she plays frequently in chamber groups such as Ensemble Modern and Dogma Chamber Orchestra.

Alongside solo performances and competitions, Maressa is involved in the Brazilian initiative, Ilumina Music and works regularly with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, São Paulo State Symphony and Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra. Maressa has performed in concert venues such as the KKL at Luzern Festival, Grafenegg, Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Elbphilharmonie, Musikverein, Sala São Paulo and the New World Center.
