Nathalie was appointed solo violinist of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (USA) in 2008.

She is regularly invited as concertmaster of prestigious European symphony orchestras, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Aarhus Symfoniorkester in Denmark, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Opera Bastille in Paris…

For one of her recent projects as guest leader of Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Nathalie performed with Lambert Wilson and Bruno Fontaine at the Philharmonie in Paris

Nathalie has given recital and concerto tours in the USA, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain, Italy, Denmark as well as France. She plays regularly at festivals all over Europe and the US.

Nathalie was also invited as Musical Director for the “Saut Hermès” at the Grand Palais in Paris by Hermès International last season.

She performs regularly as solo violin of European ensembles such as Projet Bloom, Ensemble Cairn, Ensemble Stravinsky, Ensemble Itinéraire, Ensemble Lucilin… and has worked extensively with the Ensemble Intercontemporain under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Susanna Malkki and Francois-Xavier Roth. She is involved with many projects and recordings at IRCAM, and gives masterclasses at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, universities in the USA (Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas) and England (London, Leeds…) to young contemporary composers and string players.
Nathalie has a wide-ranging recital repertoire with a specialist knowledge and experience of contemporary music. She was invited by Pierre Boulez to première Jérôme Combier’s « Anima Foglia » for Solo Violin in the Lucerne Festival, Switzerland and as part of the series “Le Louvre invite Pierre Boulez”, broadcast live on Radio France. She has since premièred and broadcast dozens of chamber and solo works in France and across Europe, as well as in the USA in her capacity as Solo Violin of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble.

A passionate chamber musician, Nathalie is Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the « Festival International de Musique de Chambre en Charente » in South-West France, founded 14 years ago by the Shaw String Trio (with Julian Shaw – viola, Jacob Shaw – ‘cello).

Nathalie Shaw currently holds a tenure professorship at the Conservatoire Municipal Darius Milhaud (14th arrondissement, Paris) and was named “Citoyenne d’Honneur” of Angoulême (France) in 2016.
