Piotr Thieu-Quang

clarinet

Polish clarinettist, Piotr Thieu Quang is principal clarinet of the Orchestra of Polish Radio in Warsaw. He also has an extremely active chamber music career, with a repertoire spanning classical masterworks as well as contemporary compositions. Alongside standard repertoire, he regularly performs his own arrangements, developing original concert programs and expanding the clarinet’s presence in diverse chamber settings. In 2018, he co-founded the Warsaw Trio with Maria Leszczyńska-Thieu (cello) and Paweł Popko (piano). The ensemble made its international debut in the Netherlands in 2023 and continues to present programmes built around both established and lesser-known works. He also performs with the Popko/Thieu-Quang Duo and the Reedbeat Quintet, where the ensemble presents its own arrangements of classical works, reimagined for reed quintet.

A graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (2021), Piotr further pursued historical clarinet studies at Ostrava University, broadening his approach to style and performance practice. His international engagements include performances abroad and collaborations with musicians from around the world, including Annette von Hehn, Daniel Blumenthal, and Alexander Gebert.
