Maksim Semenov


Russian horn-player MAKSIM SEMENOV has been solo horn of the Norwegian National Opera since 2014. He formerly occupied the position of solo horn with the Danish Chamber Orchestra.

Born in Novosibirsk, Siberia in 1988, he attended the famous Glinka State Music Academy originally as a pianist, before taking up the horn at the age of 14. After graduating, he continued his studies at the Musikkhøgskole in Oslo, Norway with Prof. Frøydis Ree Wekre.

Maksim is laureate of many international competitions including the International Competition of Lieksa, Finland, the Prague Spring Competition in the Czech Republic and the competition «Hope» in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. As a chamber musician, he plays regularly with solo players of the top Scandinavian orchestras.
