After his piano studies in Romania with Rita Vrânceanu, VLADIMIR TOMA (double bass) continued his musical training as a double bassist at the National College of Art Ion-Vidu in Timisoara with Marian Utanu and at the National University of Music in Bucharest with Ioan Cheptea. Later, he attended Dorin Marc’s classes at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg, Germany, as well as the double bass master classes with Yasunori Kawahara.

He was a semi-finalist at the International Competition in Markneukirchen in 2011 and was an academic trainee at the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra (Germany) the same year.

Vladimir often collaborates as a chamber musician with Daniel Gaede, Julius Berger, the Kölner Klaviertrio and the Voces Quartet and also with various orchestras: National Opera of Timisoara, Radio Orchestra of Bucharest, George-Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra of Bucharest, Muntenia Philharmonic Orchestra of Târgoviste, Junior Romanian Orchestra, Württemberg Chamber Orchestra of Heillbronn (Germany).

He has been principal double bass at the National Orchestra of Lyon since 2012.
